Estelle and I decided to enter another half as we were running that distance anyway for our marathon training and any race experience is good for us. So we traveled to Deal, Kent to compete in a lovely rural 'undulating' course. Our fantastic support crew of Tim and Simon passed the time handing out jelly babies to runners, as unfortunately the pubs weren't open that early in the morning, what a shame! Here we are before the race, all ready to go.
My first official sub 2 hour half marathon. Now just to double the distance and maintain that speed, no worries!
No medals this time, just mugs as a momento - a bit of a rip off really! So we drank pink champagne in honour of Valentine's Day in them after the race and they now take pride of place in the staffroom cupboard!
This is all I was thinking about most of the 21km. Just a shame the peas weren't mushy!
Congrats on a fantastic time.
ReplyDeleteMug is a bit of a jib - but imagine if it was your first and only half marathon!
