Cambridge Clue Finding
Kirsty, Marcos and Elliot organised a Sherlock Holmes style team challenge in their home town of Cambridge to celebrate their respective birthdays. Being mostly organised by a couple of PhD students it was rather challenging, but still lots of fun and meant we got another good tour of this fantastic city.

Night Time Hen Party Fun
Who knew a pack of clothes pegs could be the source of so much hilarity! Estlle was given the challenge of sneakily 'pegging' as many people as possible without being noticed. It was a fun evening out of dinner, drinks and dancing, interspersed with a broken down car and a visit from some attractive but unhelpful French firemen!
Day Time Hens Fun
As I am not very familiar with Lille and lacking in the French language, I left it to Estelle's mum Christine, sister Lea and friend Manu to plan the activities for the weekend. This meant we had a pretty tight schedule of challenges for Estelle to complete during a guided tour of the city, a delicious creperie lunch followed by a relaxing afternoon spent at a day spa.

Libere les Poulets
The girls hit Lille for the weekend to celebrate Estelle's upcoming nuptials. Her mum Christine was there to meet us at the train station, having taken the words 'hen party' quite literally she'd made us all signs with pictures of chickens on them. This insured much giggling and silliness as we made our way to our hostel, which had also been decorated by Christine in red, white and blue. We certainly attracted many strange looks from the locals, many must have though we were protesting against chicken farming or something, especially with Estelle and Esther chanting 'libere les poulets' as we went! A relatively calm evening of croque monsieur and catching up followed provided by the very hospitable Manu and Gonzalo.

Flotilla Fun
We were lucky enough to be invited to a friend-of-a-friend's Thames-side apartment to watch the Jubilee Flotilla. The weather being atrocious, we felt quite smug to be enjoying a prime view in comfort, while everyone else struggled to catch a glimpse of her majesty from the damp river bank. Sadly though, the actual flotilla wasn't as awe-inspiring as expected. Yes, there were certainly an impressive number of boats and we got to see the birthday girl, but the best part of the day was hanging out with friends in a super cool apartment!Saturday, 2 June 2012
