A Load of Rubbish


Tim is currently studying for his "Life in the UK" test. He has to pass it before we get the privilige of paying £900 for his "Right to Remain'' visa, meaning he will eventually be able to become a British Citizen (that's if we stay long enough). A few questions to test your knowledge of this fair country:

- True or false, there are twice as many Hindus as Jews in the UK?

- True or false, the UK football team is very important to the British people?

- Some people speak with a Cockney accent in:
A) Birmingham  B) Newcastle  C) Glasgow  D) London?

- Since 1979, the number of refugees who from South-East Asia who have been allowed to settle in the UK is: 
A) less than 2500  B) 2501-10 000  C) 10 001-25 000  D) More than 25 000?

- On Christmas Day, people in the UK usually:
A) Stay at home and eat a special meal  B) Spend the day fasting  C) Go to work  D) Go shopping?

    Toni! You lived over here for over a year and only got 1/5 correct!

    Answers are:
    1. True - 1% is Hindu, 0.5% is Jewish
    2. False - There is no UK Football Team, just separate England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland teams (a trick question which is really mean, I got it wrong too!)
    3. D) London (can't believe you didn't know this one! Cockney accents are from East London, remember you lived there?!!
    4. D) More than 25 000 (how is this relevant?)
    5. A) Stay at home and eat a special meal

    You won't be allowed back in the country when we tell the authorities!
